Can you believe this is outfit 5? This challenge is totally flying by! How are you finding it so far?
So, as you may be able to tell already, I switched out one of my items. And I don’t feel even slightly guilty about it. Why? Because this challenge is meant to be fun. Ok yes, there are some guidelines to follow, but who says you absolutely have to stick to them?
I made the decision to swap out my blush midi skirt in favour of this cream boxy jumper purely because the weather has been so unpredictable. As part of my planning, I always check the forecast before starting these challenges. However, typical British Springtime, the forecast has been totally different with cooler days than expected, less sunshine and even a bit of rain. I needed another warmer layer rather than the nicer bottom options that the skirt provided.
Lesson learned. Don’t always rely on the forecast!
Today has been a pretty chilled day for me, we’re heading to Cornwall for a week tomorrow so have just been at home most of the day packing and tidying ready to go. We also popped out to grab a few more things to continue in the back yard when we get home. This outfit successfully took me through the whole day!
I haven’t actually worn this jumper and these jeans together before. As the jumper is slightly cropped and the jeans are not high waisted I was always concerned there would be a bit of a gap. (Just in case, I layered a basic vest underneath as well!) However I really like how the jumper sits just at the top of the jeans.
Style notes: A tried and tested outfit formula with a slight difference for me. Boxy on top, fitted on bottom. The newness coming from pairing the short jumper with the low rise jeans, which I actually really like. I also did a couple of wide rolls on the sleeves as I find them to be the most flattering at that length. I kept accessories simple and went with matching cognac tones in both shoes and bag, because I like the warm tones against the blue denim!
Focus on: Slim jeans
These jeans are quickly breaking in and becoming oh so comfortable. (As mentioned before, they don’t have a huge amount of stretch in them compared to other Topshop styles, so they do take a little longer to break in – they’re the Topshop Baxter fit, and I’m wearing a W28 L32 for reference). I particularly love these rolled up slightly so they’re more flattering, plus it’s Spring and showing a bit of ankle is basically the law, right? And the wash is the perfect shade I was looking for, lighter than my Lucas ripped boyfriend jeans but not so light as they become unflattering. I’m super happy with these and extremely thankful I don’t have to endure jeans shopping for a good few years!
So that’s a wrap on the first week of the Spring 10×10! I’m taking the weekend off but will be back on Monday with outfit 6! In the meantime be sure to check out the hashtags on Instagram (#spring10x10, #stylebee10x10, #unfancyremix) for loads of inspiration from others doing this challenge as well : )
